Setting: Physciatric Institution in New Orleans; The House of Madness inside the twins mindsBackground Info: Two twins sisters have been comatose ever since they were the only survivors of a fatal car crash. They have been in the physciatric institution ever since and now are on their last day to live. The doctors use a machine to hook their brains together in a hope that they may be able to wake each other. The result is the House of Madness
Prompt: Living in the House of Madness is never boring. How could it be when you're constantly playing a game of life and death? The House has so many rules that not even the moderator knows them all and the only rule the House residents know is that 'everyone MUST be equal and be treated equally.' From love to hate, solidarity to group functions, everyone must treat everyone the same or be kicked out of the House into the foggy woods from which there is no escape.
The Cast:
While everyone else i
s playing the game, the Moderator seems to be above it. No one is quite sure if she actually controls it but they have come to the realization that she is in no way an impartial judge. Manipulative to an insane degree, you would almost swear that she was paid for every person who lost. Newer residents to the house have to learn this fact the hard way however. Most of the time, she actually appears rather benign. She has a habit of just observing her little lab mice scurry around the maze. While you can approach her the information you game is most likely going to worthless. However some people have noticed that when the Moderator is having tea time you might be able to get more out of her than just a smile and a riddle. Just don’t refuse the tea. She tends to get quite mad when people refuse tea. Or try to put cream in it.While no one is quite clear as to what her powers are, she has demonstrated an annoying knack at canceling other’s powers. The most common theory is that the Moderator has the guaranteed ability to remove people from the house whether through a physical or mental ability. Her actual age is unknown.
Kara is 19. She's bold, sarcastic, sexy, and secretly is trying to win the game. She hates treating everyone equally and pretends to be 'going with the flow'. She's Amara's roommate and she starts favoring her. This is a problem because she wants to win the game and not lose it. She's also a physic with ESP she hears people's thoughts and is well aware that most of the House's residents don't have minds of their own with the exception of the moderator, Amara, Damien, and Jordon. She is also aware that there are cameras in every single corner of the House and that she is always being watched. She's flirty, and FAST she runs like the wind and enjoys seducing the members of the House for entertainment. She also grows claws and fangs, and can change into a wolf when she wants to, she's an offensive type.
Amara is one of the twins. She is 17-ish. She has no memory of anything before she get to the House. She is Kara's roommate and honestly doesn't mind the game at first. (Treating people equally can't be that bad right?) Then she finds out about the consequences of not playing the game when some nameless person loses and begins looking, not for a way out, but a way to end the game for everyone playing it. She gets into trouble repeatedly, nearly losing the game several times, and Kara saves her each time without her knowing. She is innocent, kind, and keeps have flashbacks of the crash but has no idea what she is seeing. she can grow wings and put a barrier around herself for protection. (Yeah, defense type basically)
From the beginning, 18 year old Damian had a much different theory about the game than everyone else. He did not see it as a time to play a game but rather a chance to solve a puzzle. The constant flux of rules did not annoy him but where rather pieces of the puzzle being revealed. Because of his easy going nature, Damian found the main rule easy enough to obey. However as people began to disappear from the house, he took the opportunity to take notes not about just what they did but how they were caught. Because his first attempt to bring more people into help collect data failed, Damian had been doing it solo. Despite that, he believes that perhaps after two or three more people had been kicked out that he might have enough data to solve the puzzle.
However, recently things have not been going his way. When the Moderator decided to forcibly recruit him as her a ‘assistant’ Damian has found most people in the house just scattered when he arrives. She has also confiscated his notes, leaving him with only his memory to rely on. With both his social connections dried up and his notes gone, Damian has become slightly depressed although his gregarious nature still compels him to try and connect with people when given the chance. Damian is a shape shifter not bound by the laws for conservation of mass. While he prefers to take animal shapes, he has shown the ability to make alterations to his human body and even create unnatural forms. He classifies himself as neither offensive or defensive.
17-18-ish this is Jordon. He is, hands down, the offensive type. He's frustrated that he can't remember his past and absolutely hates being involved in the game. He also hates anyone else involved in the game blaming their involvement on their weakness. He is physically strong and he cannot feel phsyically pain. He harsh to everyone in the House. He only looks for a way out of the game because he hates being manipulated. He is aware that Kara is always observing and, therefore, in order to avoid her, he shut himself off from everyone and now replies only in grunts and mono syllabels.
Some people in the game want to win. Others wish to escape. One even wants to solve the puzzle. And then there is Gabriel. To him, whatever is creating the game seems to have absolute power over then. But he’s not depressed or resgined about the face. In fact you could say his coping stragety is working rather well: he’s decided that the best way to “win” is to not play the game. To just admit that the house is their home and function as such. Thus far he has functioned as sort of the mediator in the group and has been successful at regining in behavoir that would have resulted in the loss of a few residents. While he does not have ESP, the male is rather naturally empathic and usually can divene what the problems are. He is Jordon’s roomate and admits to have quite a few internal negative judgements about him. In addition he is suspicious of Kara and believes that despite the façade is working to undermine the whole group. As a rather relaxed person, he is often accused of not taking the whole situation seriously enough. Also due to an ironic gift from the Moderator –which he assumed had been an attempt to either create jealously or make him to appear her favorite- Gabriel has access to a guitar which he is able to play quite well. Usually rather social, there are times when Gabriel would just rather crash in his own room and have alone time to himself. Gabriel has demonsrated his ability to be psychokinesis. He classifies himself as a hybrid of denfenisve and offensive abilities although staunchly insises that everyone in the house their their powers for benefical, pragmatic reasons. Thus far he has used his own powers to faciliate a body swap –as an attempt to help consuling- and to work as a thermostat for the house by either exciting or slowing down the particles in the air to heat or cool areas of the house.

DOCTORS TALKING IN THE REAL WORLD:
ReplyDelete“Today’s the day.” A man in a white coat said calmly as he came to stand beside the other man in the room who looked at a clip board as he stood by two white beds.
“The day for what?” The man asked without looking up, not really caring for the answer, silence made him face the other man.
“If we don’t succeed today the project will be cut.”
“Then this is--?” The other man nodded.
“This is the last chance.”
Kara opened the door before the girl could even knock on it. She smiled at her startled expression.
ReplyDelete"Hi! I'm Kara, nice to meet you!" She greeted in a false happy tone. "Come on in. No need to stay outside in the fog." Kara reached forward and caught the girl's wrist and pulled inside the house and closed the door behind her. She locked the door's dead bolt and turned back to the younger new girl. "Hmmm. I haven't seen anyone as young as you here before." She shrugged. "Oh well, my job's just to let you in and inform you that you're my roommate." Kara's eyes flicked over Amara quickly and she smirked. "But since you're so cute I don't mind." She laughed at the girl's expression and led her deeper into the house to await orders.
Jordon glared as he heard the door open. Another fool had entered the premises. He glared at the endless fog outside the livingroom window. Fools, all fools and weaklings. He growled low in his throat. And he was stuck with them. He pushed himself off the wall and made for his bedroom, he was sure that Kara would be coming to the livingroom soon, and he sure as hell didn't want to see her.
